Each image is saved at the best quality that fits, made smaller only if it has to be. PNGs are saved as JPG.
Lower = smaller files. 70–85% is usually indistinguishable.

    How it works

    1. Drop your JPG, PNG or WebP image here, or click Choose images. You can add several at once.
    2. The maximum file size is already set to 100 KB. Change it if your form asks for a different limit.
    3. Click Compress images. Each picture is saved at the best quality that fits, and made smaller in pixels only if it has to be.
    4. Download your file. Every result is marked when it is under 100 KB.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I compress a scanned document to 100 KB and keep it readable?

Usually yes. Photograph or scan the page in good light, crop it to the paper, then compress. If small print turns blurry, set a slightly higher limit or turn the scan into a PDF with the JPG to PDF tool.

Is it better to lower the quality or make the image smaller?

The tool decides for you. It lowers the quality only as far as still looks clean, then reduces the pixel size if it has to. At 100 KB a typical photo keeps about 550 × 730 pixels.

Why did my image come back unchanged?

It was already under 100 KB, so the tool kept your original instead of re-compressing it and losing quality for nothing.

Is my image uploaded when I compress it to 100 KB?

No. The compression runs in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device. That also makes it quick: there is nothing to upload or download from a server.

    What fits in 100 KB

100 KB is a popular limit for scanned documents and photos on job portals, college admissions and online government services. It is also a sensible size for product thumbnails and blog images, where small files make pages load faster.

As a rough guide, a typical photo fits in 100 KB at about 550 × 730 pixels while still looking clean. Pictures with plain backgrounds, such as signatures and documents, can keep more pixels; busy, detailed photos need fewer.
