Privacy Policy
Information about privacy and the use of Our Online Tools.
Last updated: October 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Our Online Tools ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you visit and use ouronlinetools.com and its online tools.
The Short Version
- You don't need an account, and we never ask for your name or email to use a tool.
- Most tools run entirely in your browser: the text and files you put into them are not uploaded to us.
- We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the site. On tool pages it is told to mask everything you type or open.
- We count tool usage anonymously, with no cookies or IP addresses attached.
Information We Collect
We aim to keep the information collected through our website to a minimum.
Like almost every website, our hosting server keeps standard access logs: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting and are kept for a limited time.
Our analytics service (see "Analytics" below) also collects technical information such as your browser, device type, approximate location (country or region), pages visited and how you interact with them.
Information You Provide
If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, name and the contents of your message. We use it only to reply to you and deal with your request.
Online Tools
Most of our tools process information directly in your web browser. Where a tool works this way (its page says "Your files stay on your device"), the text, numbers and files you enter are not sent to our servers.
Analytics and other third-party services described below may still receive technical information about your visit, but not the contents you enter into a tool.
Analytics: Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the website, for example which tools are popular, where people click and scroll, and where pages are confusing or broken. Clarity produces heatmaps and recordings of sessions that let us see how pages are used.
- Clarity starts only after you first interact with a page (for example by scrolling or tapping).
- On tool pages and in search boxes we instruct Clarity to mask content, so what you type, paste or open in a tool is not recorded.
- Clarity collects technical data such as your browser, device, approximate location, pages viewed, clicks, scrolling and session length.
- Clarity sets cookies to recognise returning visitors and to link pages viewed in one visit (see "Cookies" below).
Microsoft processes this data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. For more about Clarity, see Clarity's cookie list.
Anonymous Tool Usage Counts
To rank our Popular Tools page, the website sends anonymous events when a tool is opened, used, or when a result is copied or downloaded. Each event contains only the event type and the tool's name. We store daily totals per tool; we do not store IP addresses, cookies or any identifier with these counts, and the contents you enter into a tool are never included.
Favorites, Recently Used and Offline Mode
When you star a tool or open a tool, the list of your favorite and recently used tools is saved in your own browser using local storage. This information stays on your device, is not sent to our servers and can be removed at any time by clearing your browser's site data or using the "Clear history" option.
To let the site work offline and load faster, your browser may also keep copies of our pages and files in its own storage (a "service worker" cache). This stays on your device and contains only our public pages, never your data.
Cookies
Our Online Tools itself does not need cookies for its tools to work. The cookies set while you use the site come from the services below:
- Microsoft Clarity (analytics):
_clckand_clskon our domain, andCLIDandMUIDon Microsoft's domains. They recognise returning visitors and group the pages viewed in one visit. - Advertising: if and when we show ads, Google and its partners may set advertising cookies (see "Advertising" below).
- Website session: the website may set a session cookie needed for security (for example to protect forms). It contains no personal information.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools keep working if you do.
