- Drop your PDF here, or click to choose it.
- Fit under a file size is already selected, with the limit set to 1 MB. Change it if your form asks for something different.
- Click Compress PDF. The tool first tries to shrink the file without changing it; if that is not enough, it saves the pages as images at the best quality that fits.
- Download your PDF and open it once to check the text is clear before you upload it.
Frequently asked questions
Will my PDF still look sharp at 1 MB?
Usually. Our three-page phone scan fitted at 150 DPI, the highest resolution the tool uses, which looks like a normal office scan.
Does 1 MB mean 1,000 KB or 1,024 KB here?
The tool aims below 1,000,000 bytes, so your PDF is accepted whether a site treats 1 MB as 1,000 KB or as 1,024 KB.
Why was my PDF not changed?
It was already under 1 MB, so the tool left it untouched, with its text, links and form fields as they were.
Is my PDF uploaded when I compress it to 1 MB?
No. Your PDF is compressed inside your browser and never sent anywhere, which matters for documents such as certificates and ID proofs.
What fits in a 1 MB PDF
Many email services, help desks and upload forms cap attachments at 1 MB. That leaves room for about 15 readable scanned pages, or a few pages at full quality, so most documents look exactly as before.
As a rough guide from our tests with phone photos of documents, about 15 pages fit in 1 MB with normal text still readable, or about 6 pages at a sharp, print-like quality. Clean scanner output fits more, and PDFs made from Word or Google Docs are often small enough already.
